Inflatable polling booth for West Norwood, South London
1958 - Inflatable Polling Booth Prepared For Council Elections At Lambeth: A unique rubber hut is being prepared this morning at Chatsworth Way, West Norwood as a polling booth in readiness for tomorrow's Council elections. The hall normally used is in course of reconstruction. The hut is a Numax which is carried in the boot of a car and is erected with the aid of a small electric blower powered by the car battery within three minutes. It provides a floor space of about 30 feet by 19 feet - with a height of 9 feet. Photo Shows: Two pictures - showing the portable hut carried from the car boot - and the tiny electric blower used to inflate it. The hut is ready for use in three minutes
