International Table Soccer Tournament, Savoy Hotel, London
Aug. 08, 1970 - International Table Soccer Tournament: The world's greatest table soccer players are meeting today and tomorrow at the Savoy Hotel, London, to take part in the first ever International World Cup Series. The players will be playing with Britain's top selling boxed game Subbuteo Table Soccer which is played by children throughout the world and have increased in popularity so much in recent years that many adults have formed their own Table Soccer League throughout Europe. The players taking part in the Savoy Tournament are the champions of their own countries and will represent Belgium, Malta, Israel, West Germany, Gibraltar, Holland, Eire, Switzerland, England, Northern Ireland, Scotland and Wales. The tournament was started today by Alan Hardaker, Secretary of the Football League.
