International Women's Year Conference at UN HQ

Mar. 03, 1975 - Preparatory Committee For International Women's Year Conference Opens Session At UN Headquarters: A Committee preparing for the World Conference of the International Women's Year this summer opened a two-week session here today. Under consideration are proposals for action over the 1975-1985 period to achieve the goal of the current woman's year - equality, development and peace, Princess Ashraf Pahlavi of Iran was elected Chairman. Mr. Helvi Silipla, Assistant Secretary-General for Social Development and Humanitarian Affairs and Secretary-General of the Conference, is seen making a statement.
