Jan 01, 1973 - Paris, France - A Chilean-American novelist ISABEL ALLENDE with her husband MIGUEL FRIAS and REGIS DEBRAY (left) pictured in Paris during a solidarity meeting for Chile. After a military coup that brought Augusto Pinochet to power and overthrew the president Salvador Allende, Isabel was force to leave the country and flee to Venezuela. She, who writes in the magic realism tradition, is largely famous for her contributions to Latin-American literature, novels such as The House of the Spirits and City of the Beasts, which have been hugely successful
