Isartor, Munich, preparation for Olympic City
Feb. 02, 1972 - Olympic City Munich. Photo shows The Isartor was built 1337 as a part of the city wall. King Ludwig I. had the gate rebuilt in the Gothic style. The 60 ft. long fresco at the front reminds one of the marching-in of Emperor Ludwig der Bayer after the battle at Ampfing in 1322. The bottom picture shows the Isartor today. A part of the underground-line is being built here, but the building-site will not be there anymore during the Olympic Games. Inside the Isartor is Germany's not curious museum. The utensils of the famous Munich comedian Karl Valentin are displayed here
