Dec. 12, 1954 - Catholics of Nazareth and Israel celebrate Centenary of the Immaculate Conception in Nazareth:Catholics of Nazareth and northern Israel held a special Ceremonies and high masses to mark the 100th. Anniversary of the Proclamation by Pope Pius IX the Dogma of the Immaculate Conception of the Virgin Mary and the end of the Marian Year'. the ceremonies included a torchlight procession through the streets of Nazareth to the Church of the Annunciation. A Cornerstone for a new church ha been laid for the Annunciation the Church is expected to be the largest in the whole of the middle East.
