Israel - Lebanon - Palestine

Sep. 09, 1970 - Free Hijack Girl threat to Britain The popular Front for the liberation of Palestine today demanded that Britain release within 72 hours a girl accomplice of the Front involved in yesterday's unsuccessful attempt to hijack the Israeli El Al airliner which landed at Heathrow. A Front spokesman warned the British Government that it would be held responsible for any harm to the girl, Leila Khaled, who is detained at West Drayton police station. The spokesman demanded that the girl should be released and returned to Jordan. A man with Miss Khaled was shot dead in a mid-air battle with a security guard as they tried to seize the jet over the North Sea on a flight from Amsterdam to New York.
