Aug. 08, 1973 - Israels free Arab Airliner from Skyjacker: A whiskey-drinking Libyan armed with two pistols sky jacked an Arab airliner and forced the pilot to fly to Israel yesterday. He was over powered by Israeli commandos who stormed aboard the plane at Lydda Airport and rescued the 109 passengers and crew of 10. The Airliner a Boeing 707 of Lebanon's Middle East Airlines was seized just after taking off from Nicosia on the last leg of a flight to Beirut. Later the airliner took off from Lydda Airport and landed safely in Beirut. Photo shows The skyjacked airliner pictured after landing in Israel yesterday
