Jan. 22, 1976 - Israeli defense minister tours Lebanese border defenses : The Israeli defense minister, Mr. Shimen Peres made a tour of the Lebanese Border Defenses in case Syrian armed forces should invade Lebenon, Israel will take such measures as indicated by the situation created along the Northern Border with the Lebanon. Mr. Peres added that possible entry of the Syrian Army into Lebanon, and the presence there of the large numbers of Palestinian terrorists. These two problems are being followed closely, as having direct implications on Israel's security. What his happening in Lebanon among the warring factions was an internal affair, on which Israel has no wish to comment said Mr Peres during his tour.
