May 05, 1978 - Israel Shows off Its New Tank. The latest weapon in the Israel Army is this new 56-ton tank, with a revolutionary front-end engine and the ability to carry 10 infantrymen. It is called Merkava, with armour plating so thick, it is considered unpierceable. It has a 105mm cannon and a 950-horsepower American Engine.
