Sep. 09, 1957 - ROMAN TEMPLE MAY BE SAVED. WORK AGAIN POSTPONED AS WORKS MINISTER CALLS CONFERENCE. The remains of the Roman Nithraic temple uncovered on the site of the proposed block of offices near the Mansion House, may, after all, be saved from the bulldozers which were due to shatter it on Monday. This dramatic news came yesterday after an unexpected conference called by sir David Ecoles, Works Minister. But there is a snag. To preserve the temple beneath the 14-storey block of offices that is to be built on its site till cont 00, 000. Queues of people have formed up every day to view the ruins of the temple.
