Feb. 29 Phone call from the deaf and mute Bruno Fracassi, of Rome, has invented an instrument called the Fonomorse which he claims could open up the whole world of communications to the deaf and dumb. By using the equipment they can contact each other from a pay telephone box, using a portable morse-code instrument with a paper print-out of the message. When a deaf and dumb person calls another deaf and dumb person (or a normal person calls a deaf and dumb person), instead of traditional rings a small lamp sends flashes and the message is received in Alphabet Morse that unwinds on a paper strip.
