May 05, 1960 - Italian girl recieves recall to military service has medical to prove she is a girl.: 20 year old Italian girl Francesca Piccioni, of Ascoli Piceno (Marche) was surprised when she got called to military examination. It transpired that the record had her listed as Francesco and Francesca went along to the barracks to prove to the authorities that she was a girl, and not a man according to the records. Photo shows Francesce Piccioni and her fiancee, seen leaving the barracks after straightening out the error
