Italy - San Marino
Oct. 10, 1966 - Italy's Socialist today started a historic series of meetings that will culminate Sunday in the merger of once rival parties into a single socialist bloc, large enough to challenge both Catholics and Communist? The Socialist of Vice Premier Pietro Nenni met at the Palace of Congresses for a three-day congress, their 37th and last as a separate party. The manager, as much-needed simplification, ends 19 years of often bitter rivalry between the two parties. Photo shows Dr. Mario Tanassi, leader of the Italian Socialist Democratic Party
