Dec. 12, 1959 - John Surtees is chosen as TV Sportsman of the Year: John Surtess the fastest man in the world on motorcycle was last night chosen as Sports Personality of 1959 by B.B.C. Television Sportsview Surtees world motor-cycling champion for the year in succession, was presented with the trophy a miniature television camera by Sir John Hunt, of Everest fame.
