Jackie Stewart, racing driver, wins British Grand Prix
Jul. 17, 1971 - Jackie Stewart wins the British Grand Prix at Silverstone: Jackie Stewart driving his Tyrrell Ford won the British Grand Prix in a record-breaking average speed of 130.48 miles an hour, at Silverstone today. 2nd was Ronnie Peterson, of Sweden in a March Ford, and 3rd Emerson Fittipaldi of Brazil, driving a Lotus Ford.
