Jul. 07, 1977 - The Mayor of Paris Meets the Champions. The Tour De France cycle race 1977 was recently won by the German rider, Dietrich Thurau, riding a Raleigh bicycle, and the second place was taken by the Frenchman, Bernard Thevenet. When it all ended in Paris, Jacques Chirac, the popular Mayor of the city, came forth to congratulate the two men.
