Mar. 03, 1967 - James Mason as an Honest Teacher: Hollywood star James Mason filming for an American colour television camera in Salzburg as the Austrian teacher Franz Xaver Gruber. He plays the role of the teacher Gruber who together with the Oberndorf parson Joseph Mohr, wrote the Christmas song Stille Nacht, Heilige Nacht (Silent Night, Holy Night) more than a hundred years ago. Now the ABC Television production company films the story of this song. Regisseur is Daniel Mann (The Little Tea House). The composer Joseph Mohr will be played by the American John Leighton. Besides this were engaged the German actors Herbert Fux, Rudolf Rhomberg and Freidrich Graf Ledebur. The American will shoot in Salzburg till March 15th.
