James Mason, English actor, as Austrian teacher Gruber

Mar. 03, 1967 - James Mason as Austrian Teacher: Hollywood star and English actor James Mason filming for an American colour television camera in Salzburg as the teacher Franz Xaver Gruber. He plays the role of the teacher Gruber who, together with the Oberndorf person Joseph Mohr, wrote the Christmas song Stille Nacht, Heilige Nacht (Silent Night, Holy Night) more than a hundred years ago. Now the ABC Television Production company films the story of this song. Regisseur is Daniel Mann (The Little Tea House). The composer Joseph Mohr will be represented by the American John Leighton. Besides this were engaged the German actors Herbert Fux, Rudolf Rhomberg and Friedrich Graf Ledebur. The Americans will shoot in Salzburg till March 15th.
