James Mason, English actor, as Austrian teacher Gruber

Mar. 03, 1967 - James Mason as Austrian Teacher: Hollywood star and English actor James Mason filming for an American Colour television programme in Salzburg asa the Austrian teacher Franz Xaver Gruber. He plays the role of the teacher Gruber who together with the Oberndorf Parson Joseph Mohr, wrote the Christmas song Stille Nacht, Heilige Nacht (Silent Night, Holy Night) more than a hundred years ago. Now the ABC television Production Company films the story of this song. Regisseur is Daniel Mann ('the Little Tea House'). The Composer Joseph Mohr will be played by the American John Leighton. Beside this were engaged the German actors Herbert Fux, Rudolf Rhomberg and Friedrich Graf Ledebur. The Americans will film in Salzburg till March 15th.
