1955 - Jan Kiepura rehearses for the The Merry Widow. Jan Kiepura the 48 year old Polish-born tenor who is now an American citizen, was rehearsing at the Palace Theatre this afternoon for the Operetta The Merry Widow. He says that he is to start paying the Income Tax Authorities the £2800 which he is said to owe them in respect of his earnings here in 1934-35.
