Jane Baldasare training to swim Channel underwater

Jul. 07, 1960 - American Housewife Trains For Her Attempt To Swim The English Channel Under Water American housewife, 25-year-old Mrs. Jane Baldasare, has started training for her attempt to swim the English Channel under water some time in August. She is using the indoor pool at Butlin's Queen Hotel at Cliftonville. Although unable to swim a stroke until she married at the age of 17, she has learned to drink, eat, sleep and make-up under water in spite of the Voitlung which she carried strapped to her back. Last year she successfully completed a 14-mile under water swim in Pensacola Bay, Florida, and in January this year carried an endurance test by remaining under water in a tank for 100 hours.
