1968 - Tokyo Still Growing: At the beginning of the 18th century when Tokyo was still called Edo it had the worlds largest population of one million. Today it maintains that position with a population of 11, 400, 000 and still it expands. Due to new anti-earthquake building technique, skyscrapers are rising and replacing the small office buildings which were built only two and three stories high because of the fear or earthquakes, in fact it was a city ordinance which regulated their height.
