Feb. 25 Unknown dead remembered. Japanese pay hommage to 8, 000 unknown persons buried in the cemetery of the nenbutsu temple, Kyoto, Japan by lighting candles at the rough headstones in a night ceremony. The persons buried were never identified after being found dead in the streets, or washed ashore, in past years, and local inhabitants act as mourners
