Feb. 26 Tokyo's Policewomen Help To Enforce Parking Ban. Using walkie-talkie radios, Tokyo policewomen report cars parked in city, streets which are less then 4.5 meters wide, to police towing vehicles who haul the illegally parked cars away in a clampdown aimed at reducing the influx of cars in down-town Tokyo to alleviate traffic congestion and to lessen photochemical smog. Over 1, 000 policemen, and 46 policewomen in 23 mini-cars, plus 300 motorcycle cops took part in the raid on an estimated 48, 000 parked cars if which 64 percent are left in no-parking areas.
