Feb. 28 Founded Korean Counter-Intelligence: Chief of the Forces of the Republic of Korea, General Sun Yap Paik, was bron thirty-nine years ago in Pyonyang, present capital of Communist North Korea. He graduated from the Military Academy in Manchuria, later joining the Manchurian Army in 1942 while Korea was under Japanese rule. With the fall of Japan he joined the Korean Constabulary and in 1948 founded the first Korean Counter-Intelligence Corps. Later he led an Army division to recapture his home town from the communists. He has made several visits to the U.S. and in 1958 visited Britain and the British forces on the Rhine at the invitation of the British Government. He followed this with a tour of NATO countries, the Middle East, Thailand, Vietnam and Formose. He is a Christian and is married with two children. He possesses 7 U.S. medals, 5 European and 8 Korean decorations
