Mar. 03, 1964 - American Ambassador in Japan is wounded by a young man in Tokyo: Kowa Shionoya, a 19-year old non-worker, struck with a knife Mr Edwin O. Reischauer, American Ambassador to Tokyo in the right leg. Rushed to the Tokyo hospital, Mr Reischauer has a blood transfusion. His condition is listed as satisfactory. Shionoya was immediately arrested but only said that his act was not due to any political motive. Photo shows a recent portrait of Mr Edin O. Reischauer
