Nov. 11, 1967 - State funeral for former Japanese premier. The state funeral for the late former Prime Minister of Japan, Shigaru Yoshida, took place at Nippon Budokan Hall in Tokyo. This was the first state funeral under the new Constitution. Prime Minister Eisaku sato acted as chairman of thefuneral committee. Mr. Kenichi Yoshida, eldest son of the deceased, handed the casket containing the ashes of the deceased to Prime Minister Sato, in front of the altar, which was decorated with over 40, 000 yellow chrysanthemums with a large portrait of the deceased framed with three layers of chrysanthemums.
