Jul. 07, 1972 - Next Prime Minister Kakuei Tanaka, Elected: Mr. Kakuei Tanaka, Minister of the International Trade and Industry, was elected president of the Liberal Democratic Party when the Party's convention was held at Hibiya Public Hall Tokyo. The 54 year old Tanaka is the sixth president of the LDP party since the party was established in 1955 and becomes Japan's youngest Prime Minister since the end of the Pacific War.
