Jul. 07, 1975 - Aquapolis Now Linked to Mainland Okinawa. Aquapolis - City of the Seas, the major pavilion of the International Ocean Exposition in Okinawa, is now linked to the mainland by a bridge 200 meters offshore. The huge 18, 600 ton floating platform is 10.000 square meters, will be semi submerged to give visitors a feeling of undersea adventure whilst traveling on a computer controlled pedestrian conveyor belt, which allows 2, 400 visitors at a time to see the sights. Aquapolis is fitted with float tanks and when floating will only list 1 degree, even in rough weather
