Japanese rice wine cup or sake cup
1968 - Rice wine cup worth a fortune: Despite the business slump in Japan resulting from the dollar-shock, and surcharges on imports from Japan, a Tokyo department store is offering this king-size sake cup (rice wine cup) made with 7.013 kgs of gold, to the first customer to put down 10 million yen ( 11, 500) on the counter. The big sake cup, 30 cms in diameter, took two months to fashion. It is an enlarged version of the minute sake cups generally made of china.
