Mar. 27 Japanese Soldier Guards The Venus De Milo. A soldier of the Japan Self-Defence Force with fixed bayonet, stands guard over the famous Venus de Milo statue at the Western Art Museum in Ueno, Tokyo after the exhibition had been jointly opened by French Premier Georges Pompidou, and Princess Takamatsu. The priceless statue has been lent to Japan as a gesture of goodwill between the two countries, and it is the first time that the statue has left France
