Feb. 28 In the Garden of the Royal dancing school Javanese Princess performs traditional dance; Princess Siti Wahjoem starts a dance in the garden beside the palace of the Sultan of Solo, decorated with tropical plants, Chinese vases and coloured wicker cages for singing birds. It is a slow, dignified symbolic dance during which the dancer portrays prayers, offerings, rocking a baby, going for a walk, the toilet (hair combing) etc
