Jean Cocteau prepares for ballet premiere, Munich
May 05, 1953 - A short time before the premiere of his ballet La Dame A La Licorne, Jean Cocteau, the world-famous French playwright, visited the Bavarian Capital (Munich) in order to supervise personally the last preparations and debuts. It is said that a priceless French carpet gave Cocteau the intellectual stimulus to write the amusing fable. Jacques Chailley composed the music following ideas and motifs from the 16th century.
