Jan. 1, 1963 - Paris, France - Leader of the Free French during World War Two and the architect of the Fifth Republic, Charles De Gaulle was targeted by the settler secret army organisation (OAS) terrorist group and several assassination attempts were made on him; the most famous when he was targeted by machine gun fire arranged by JEAN-MARIE BASTIEN-THIRY at the Petit-Clamart.
