Jennie Lee with ballerinas of the Bolshoi Ballet

Aug. 08, 1965 - Bolshoi ballet in an English Country garden.: The Bolshoi Ballet were yesterday introduced to the pleasures of English country life - swimming, riding, badminton, tea on the lawn. And waiting in traffic queues. Sixty members of the Russian Company were guests for the day at Plaw Hatch, Britains first trade union country club, near East Grinstead Sussex. The two coaches bringing them from London got stuck in the seaside traffic, and they were an hour late. After a brief welcome from the Minister of Culture, Miss Jennie Lee, and lunch in the Great Hall, the visitors relaxed in the informal atmosphere of Plaw Hatch, one a stately home. Photo shows Jennie Lee (Centre), pictured with some of the members of the Bolshoi Ballet, at Plaw Hatch yesterday
