Widening police inquiries into the Norman Scott case are to include a detailed investigation of the activities of David Holmes, 47, best man at Jeremy Thorpe's first wedding and a former deputy treasurer of the Liberal Party. Police have received a tape recording of a vital telephone call made by Holmes in October this year, which confirms that he was aware of the conspiracy to murder Scott.
