Jersey cattle loaded for transport to France for show
Jersey Cattle are famed all over the world and are one of the Island's biggest industries. Here cattle are being loaded into a British Railways Ship fort transport to France for a Cattle Show. Jersey Awaits its royal visitors. On July 25th next one of the busiest men will be Mr. W.G. Furzer, Harbormaster of St. Helier, Jersey, for on this day, the Queen and the Duke of Edinburgh will sail into the harbor aboard the royal yacht Britannia. Ever since the 14th Century Jersey has been a British possession, but it is only 15 miles from the French Coast, has a continental atmosphere and still retains French as its official ;language. Jersey's harbor is the busy heart of the prosperous little Island. Always scene of interest to the visitors it is always crowded with craft, from the big British Railway Steamers down to the trim little pleasure craft. Fruit, tomatoes and Jersey cattle are the Island's main industries, as well as Jersey potatoes, flowers ad early vegetables, and all of these leave for their destinations from the Island's busy harbor.
