Feb. 02, 1958 - More Than 200 Miners Killed In Indian Mine Disaster. The final death toll totalled more than 200 - in the explosion which wrecked the British controlled Chinakuri Mine, India. The explosion flooded the neighbouring Central Bhowrah Mine - in which 20 miners were reported to have been drowned. Keystone Photo Shows:- Clouds of black smoke continues to billow from the mouth of pit No.2 at the mine - more than 12 hours after the explosion
