Feb. 02, 1960 - Mine disaster in Zwickau/East Germany A terrible disaster occured in the coal mine Karl Marx in Zwickau/East Germany, when over 100 miners were just going into the mine starting their work. Through an explosion, they were closed in the mine 1100 m under the earth. Although there is not much hope to rescue the miners who are still closed in alive, 460 rescue workers are working hard without interruption.
