Oct. 10, 1961 - New Diamond - Cutting System Shown - An Entirely new Diamond-Cutting system known as the Princess-Cut-was shown for the first time in London today. The New process is said to give More visible diamond carat for carat - The diamonds are cut to a constant thickness of no more than 1.5 millimeters and, it is claimed, for the first time in history, diamonds will be sold acording to surface area and not weight. Diamonds can now also be out into previously unknown shapes. A Press reception to announce the new process was held in London today.
