1961 - Mining and Metallurgical congress delegates visit a mine. Each bar is valued at £11, 000: Members of the 7th Commonwealth Mining and Metallurgical Congress being held in Johannesburg paid a visit to the Durban Roodepoort deep mine. Delegates from many countries including the United States - Egypt - Madagascar and the Phillipines besides the Commonwealth delegates are attending the congress. Photo shows Mr. F.W. Graham a prospector form Canada with some of the Gold Bars in the Mine smelting plant. As a young man Mr. Graham used to prospect for gold in the backwoods of Canada with a pick and shovel. Today he runs a Prospecting and developing firm in Toronto, Ontario. Each of these Gold bars is valued at £11, 000
