Jan. 01, 1977 - Voting starts today on workers retirement proposals.: The Kent minors were the first to vote today, over the new early retirement proposals, the rest voting tomorrow around England and Wales. General opinion at the Betteshaner Collery is that their vote will be a sizable majority against the proposals. The proposals will allow men with 20 yeras under underground service to retire at 62 with a £500 tax free payment.
