Jewish New Year service, synagogue in Berlin
Feb. 26 For the first time the Shofar or Rama horn was heard in Berlin when the Jewish New Year service was held in the reconstructed synagogue which was closed by the Nazis in 1938. The Torah Sacred Scroll was unrolled and read, There were women, US soldiers, German police is unenianign Russians and children at the ceremony. The choir was made up of men over 45. because there were no young singers among the surviving Jews. The Scroll was placed in a waterproof safe to save it from the Nazis and buried in the ground, and the ground was flooded. This was how it was preserved. Photo show Pro.
