Jill Payton, child actress in H bomb film

Jun. 06, 1956 - Child star of film that will shock Britain: Four year old Jill Payton is the star of a film she is too young to understand. It is a horror film a grim and vivid account of what a hydrogen bomb could do to a British city in twenty seconds. Jill is the little girl trapped and crying in the wake of the massive explosion. Jill's mother, Mrs. Irene Payton of Queensdowne road, Clapton, East London, said yesterday: She did not mind a bit crawling around in the muck and the rubble for the film people, but the difficulty was to get her to cry. The film, called the H-Bomb was made for the Home Office, who have decided that it may be shown on television. The B.B.C. already have a copy and are now deiciding whether to show it. Photo shows Jill Payton, pictured yesterday at her home at Clapton
