John E Coulson, ambassador to Washington, with family

Aug. 08, 1955 - British Diplomat appointed to Washington: Mr. John E. Coulson is expected to take up his appointment as Minister at the British Embassy, Washington, in the fall. 45 years- 0f- age, he is a career diplomat and father of two boys. A Cambridge graduate, he has, since joining Britain's foreign Service in 1932, seen service in the United States ( as deputy leader of the British delegation to the United Nations, New York), France and Romania. He was an adviser to the foreign secretary at a wartime Moscow conference and member of the British delegation to the Potsdam conference. Photo shows mr. and Mrs. John E. Coulson with their sons, David (L) and Neville. Neville will remain in school in England and David will accompany his parents to Washington
