John Morley Kelly escorted by police at Southampton

Aug. 08, 1956 - John Kelly Of London Comes Home To Face 100, 000 Charge Accused In Diamond Case: John Morley Kelly of Charlton, SE London arrived at Southampton yesterday aboard the Pretoria Castle - escorted by Chief Detective Inspector Tom Sheppard and Detective Inspector James Driscoll of Scotland Yard. The police officers flew to Durban and met the Bloemfontein Castle aboard which Kelly was working as a deck hand. The three then sailed for Britain. At Bow Street Kelly was charged with being concerned in the100, 000 diamond theft at Clerkenwell in July - also with receiving a car and a radio set - knowing them to have been stolen.
