John Paul Getty Jr joins anti-war parade in Rome, Italy
Jul. 07, 1973 - Getty's grandson in kidnap riddle. The 17-year-old grandson of oil millionaire Paul Getty was today at the center of a kidnap mystery. A man telephoned the boy's 40 year old mother, Mrs. Gail Getty, at her Rome penthouse yesterday and told her: Your son is with us. This is a ransom demand. Get the money ready. Police said they were treating the phone call seriously, but were also searching the area of Rome where the boy, John Paul Getty III, has been known to sell handmade jewellery to tourists. Mrs Getty's marriage to Paul Getty Junior ended eight years ago. He lives in London.
