Thirty year old London-born South African multi-millionaire Mr John Schlesinger yesterday signed documents to purchase the 50 percent interest held by the American concern, United Artists, in the Odeon Cinema Holdings Ltd. the company which controls Mr. J. Arthur Rank's Odeon Theatre Ltd. The Odeon Theatres Group, through its subsidiaries like Gaumont-British, 554 cinemas, also owns cinemas throughout the commonwealth and produces and distributes films and makes equipment.
