Mar. 03, 1977 - Sir Winston Churchill paintings sold for £86, 300 at Christie's: Five painting by Sir Winston Churchill were sold at Christie's today for a total of £86, 300. A record price was paid of £48, 000 for the Mimizan, which was painted by Sir Winston in 1924 when he was staying with the Duke of Westminster, who had a house at Mimizan, sixty miles south of Bordeaux.
